5th newsletter

July 2020

Welcome to our fifth edition of the newsletter! We hope you are enjoying your summer! VIRTUe definitely is because we are on a holiday break!

The Design

The preliminary building design phase has just been completed. This was celebrated with a presentation on Friday, 10th of July. This event received an amount of about 80 attendees! We were also able to receive a lot of valuable feedback (through the Mentimeter, but also through the feedback sessions afterwards) that we will be processing in the upcoming weeks as we move towards the final design phase.

VIRTUe is now working on the final design phase. The final design phase will be finished in mid October. The next phase will be the construction design!

The Team

VIRTUe is happy to see that society is starting to function normally again! Meeting each other in person is something we have started to hold in high regard during these Corona times. The value of organizing fun events for each other in order to keep the heartbeat going has become of a much higher value. Safety comes first though! In order to comply with this VIRTUe has organized a completely Corona proof team activity to celebrate our rapid increase in members.
VIRTUe is currently on a well deserved break! We will be back in office on the 17th of August. We hope this does not cause any inconvenience and we hope that you are also having a great summer!

The Advisory Partners

Paul de Ruiter is an architecture firm with sustainability and the human factor as main focus points. The Amsterdam based firm consists of around 30 people, mainly from the architecture and building management disciplines. The practice interprets sustainability from both technical and social perspectives. And aside from the emphasis on innovation, the consideration for people shapes all most of their activity, being their approach to design. Jolien Bruin and Joris Korbee advise our architectural design, but also give tips on how to integrate the different disciplines into a sustainable coherent whole. They are also advising us in our communication department. This newsletter is an example of that!
Sweco is a structural engineering and architecture consultancy company. Sweco’s company belief is based on the input of human curiosity in combination with the art of design and technology. It’s a multinational firm with an office in Eindhoven. They utilise a multidisciplinary approach involving technical, spatial, social, and financial adjustments to solve changing climatic and urban challenges. Structural engineer Niels Castelein works with the team to develop the structural design concept taking into account practical construction methodologies, calculations and the correlated consequences.
